Servas Canada is a non-profit, non-governmental, intercultural,
interracial, and interfaith organization. Servas Canada is a branch of Servas International,
the global coordinating body incorporated in Switzerland.
Servas is an international network of hosts and travelers building
peace by providing opportunities for personal contact between people of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Through mutually arranged individual visits, hosts and travelers
share their lives, interests and concerns about social issues. These encounters help form the building blocks of
peace in the spirit of mutual service and respect.
Servas is a volunteer movement of caring individuals, not a
budget travel service. Travelers are encouraged to participate fully in the lives of their hosts. Everyone in Servas
seeks to overcome both stereotypes and physical barriers to cross-cultural understanding and cooperation. Servas
is a special way of seeing the world: as a place where there are no strangers… only friends you have yet to meet.
